What is Grind? Who is Grind?

Hey up, I’m Jake.

In 2019, I flew across the world from a little town in the north of England to the west coast of Canada, driven by a passion for action sports and life in the mountains. With a degree in Sport & Exercise Science, a CrossFit Level 1 certificate, and a background competing for Great Britain in BMX racing, I bring over a decade’s worth of knowledge in elite sport and fitness.

Grind began with fitness classes, an opportunity to build influence within the strong athletic community of Whistler. My objective with Grind was to cover all bases, a functional fitness class for everybody, from the local athletes to somebody’s first barbell squat. Since then, over 600 people have walked through the doors to build a community around fitness.

Unfortunately, times change, and my priorities shifted. My focus has shifted to a lifestyle that suits me and my objectives. To grow, we must first be uncomfortable. I took the risk; I stepped away from the classes to pursue an opportunity to grow Grind into its second evolutionary phase. Something bigger, with more reach, and to inspire people to move.

So what is Grind?

Honestly, I wish I knew… All I know is that if you need motivation, advice, or have an inquiry about anything that involves movement and your body, then I’m here to help.
